The best piece of advice I have ever received

The best piece of advice I have ever received: Life is too short to be wasted on negativity

At some point in my life, I heard a simple yet powerful piece of advice: “Life is too short to be mad, stressed, or upset all the time.” Someone unknown person to me told me it. I do not usually think about random persons words that much but this one got stuck in my mind. Over time I have realized just how true it is.

When I started paying attention to my emotions, I noticed how often I let unimportant things get to me whether it was a dreadful day at work or school, a rude stranger or a minor inconvenience. But once I began recognizing those emotions and handling them differently, life became a lot more manageable and not so miserable. Instead of getting caught up in frustration I reminded myself that whatever was bothering me was not worth ruining my entire day or week.

There is not one single moment where this advice changed my life but instead it is helped in everyday situations. Whether it is dealing with unexpected stress or handling personal setbacks remembering that life is too short for negativity makes a huge difference. It’s easy to get caught up in emotions but if you don’t take a step back and remind yourself of what really matters you will eventually miss out on the good things life has to offer.

One thing I’ve learned is that advice like this can easily be forgotten in the heat of the moment. That’s why I try to remind myself of it from time to time especially on the difficult days when it’s hardest to stay positive. It’s not about ignoring emotions or pretending everything is fine but about prioritizing where my energy goes.

Would I pass this advice on to others? Yes, I think so. If you find yourself overwhelmed by negativity you can ask yourself: If today were my last day would I want to spend it this way? Life isn’t perfect, and it’s not always joyful but it’s far too short to waste on things that only make it more miserable than it is now.

So take a deep breath and let go of what you can’t control and especially things that you can not have impact on and make the most of the time you have. This can come as a shock but our time is finite.

Let’s move to a lighter topic; my English learning journey. I’ve definitely made some progress mostly by consuming a lot of English media. Watching shows, listening to podcasts and reading articles help me improve without feeling like I'm studying.

It’s all about getting comfortable with the language and I try to think and write in English whenever I can. Focusing on improving vocabulary and learning new words will  improve my communication.
